Protecting Your Personal Information

CalFirst obtains personal information in the following ways:

1. Your Application and/or Account Opening

CalFirst's principal business is to offer financial services such as online checking and savings accounts and certificates of deposit. In order to best serve your banking needs, we may ask you to provide us with some or all of the following information:

Name

Mailing addresses

E-mail address

Social Security number

Birth date

Driver’s license or state identification number

Occupation

Home and business telephone numbers

Whether you own or rent your residence


In addition, we may request information that helps us keep your account secure. We use the information you give us to optimize the financial services we offer, evaluate your creditworthiness where appropriate and prevent fraud. We will not be able to process your application if you do not provide us with the information requested on the application.

In order to comply with record-keeping requirements, we may ask you to mail us a hard copy of an online application. As a part of an application for credit or the opening of an account, you expressly authorize us to obtain a credit bureau report for our use in evaluating your application and, subsequently, in connection with our periodic review of your account relationships with us, a requested change to your accounts or a change in your credit line or renewal of your account. The credit bureau report is one of the tools we use to protect you against fraudulent conduct. As discussed below, you have certain rights regarding your credit bureau reports. Depending on the product for which you apply, we may request additional authorizations to obtain information, such as confirmation of employment.

2. Your Statement and Communications with CalFirst
Upon opening of an account, we track your transactions, including where and how you access and use the account, in order to prepare your account statement and to protect against fraudulent use of the account. In addition, we keep track of when and why you communicate with us regarding your account. This allows us to provide consistent quality service.

3. Visiting CalFirst on the Web
We obtain information online. We track the flow of traffic on our Website. We obtain personal information from visitors to our site at the time a visitor applies for any of our banking products. In addition, our computer and your computer may communicate during your visit to our Website, which allows us to customize screens and identify which parts of the site have been accessed.

Employee Access to Information
Employee access to personally identifiable information is strictly limited to those with a legitimate business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of customer information and on this Privacy Policy. Because of the importance of these issues, all CalFirst employees are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of customer information. Employees who violate this Privacy Policy will be subject to disciplinary measures.

Limited Use of Personal Information
CalFirst does not provide account or personal information to outside companies for the purpose of independent telemarketing or direct mail marketing.

CalFirst uses personal information in the following limited ways:

We use the information to evaluate your request to open an account or to determine whether to issue credit and, if we extend an offer of credit, to establish your line of credit. Thereafter, we use the information to provide our clients with the highest level of service and protect our clients from fraudulent use of their accounts.

CalFirst, like most (if not all) banks, shares our experience with you with reputable credit bureaus. Our reporting to credit bureaus is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to make sure that your credit bureau reports are correct and accurate.

To assist us in offering you our banking services, we may occasionally share information with companies that work with us, such as check-printing and data processing companies. These companies might, for example, assist us in offering you certain products and services or help us mail your account statements. We limit the information we provide these companies to that which is necessary to assist us in offering you these products and services. These companies act on our behalf and are required to maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy and security of personally identifiable customer information provided to them.

We may also utilize non-personal information obtained from you (such as a compilation of information about our customers as a group) in marketing the products and services of CalFirst.
